We’re deep into beer festival season now, and some of the biggest fests are getting set to begin. Mendocino Brewing will be at several of them, as well as some smaller, personal favorites. Here are a few of Mendo’s favorite brew fest picks for this month, though you even if you can’t make one of these, there’s certain to be something going on nearby—no matter where you live!
Reggae on the River – August 30 – September 2
French’s Camp, CA
This year marks the 31st anniversary of Reggae on the River, and Mendocino Brewing has been there since the party began. Held on the banks of the Eel River, this four-day festival not only showcases reggae artists from around the world, it is also one of the prime fundraisers for the Mateel Community Center. The community center is a valuable reservoir of art, health, culture and fitness resources for people living in the area.
Outside Lands – August 7 – 9
San Francisco, CA
Last year was Mendocino Brewing’s first time at Outside Lands, and it was a great success! We’re thrilled to be headed back for more of this eclectic and art-filled festival, where we’ll be pouring both Red Tail Ale and Eye of the Hawk. This year’s music performers include Elton John, Billy Idol and Wilco, among dozens more, and its location in the city makes it one of the most dynamic events of the summer.
Quail Motor Sports Gathering – August 14
Carmel, CA
The Quail Motor Sport Gathering is a mecca for motorcycle and classic car lovers. Held annually in Carmel, this world-class event celebrates unique and important vehicles, with this year’s honoring the Long Tail Cars of Le Mans as well as pre-1965 Porsches. The Bonham’s auction house hosts the function’s motor car auction, which last year set the world record for the most valuable car sold at action: a Ferrari 250 GTO that sold for $108 million.
Blues, Brews and BBQ – August 22
Napa, CA
Now in its sixth year, the Blues, Brews and BBQ festival in Napa is a celebration of great local blues music, microbrews and BBQ specialties. Mendocino Brewing has long been a fan and supporter of local musicians, and they’ll be breaking out the Talon Double IPA for this party! The event is free, and is a great reason to make a road trip to Napa.
Sausalito Art and Wine Festival – August 30 – September 1
Sausalito, CA
The Sausalito Art Festival is one of the oldest and top-ranked art festivals in the country. Held each year over Labor Day weekend, the three-day festival hosts more than 270 artists, all with their wares for sale. Along with the impressive art, visitors can also enjoy on-going performances at the main stage. This year, Jefferson Starship will be performing on the first night, and Mendocino Brewing will be keeping the fans happy!
